Self-development, mindset and passion - Elena on her travels
1. Who are you?
Hi, my name is Elena, I am 27 years old. I am sociable, emotional, and kind person, though at first sight everyone says that I am very serious. I love new and bright moments and emotions. I used to live and work in Odessa, where I had a small studio. Now I moved to Berlin and became a part of MAYDUNA team.
I've been piercing professionally for about 5 years now, although I did my first piercing many years ago. Piercing has been my hobby for a very long time, probably until I was invited to work in the studio. I believe that in my case, I didn't choose my profession, but it chose me.
2. What is your favorite type of piercing you offer at Mayduna?
I don't have a favourite type of piercing, I'm just a fan of my craft and I love all piercings. I love to do unusual designs, double piercings, to emphasize a person's personality and their anatomy. A Flat with large, unusual jewellery; Philtrum combined with labret; Double-Conch piercing; Lobe piercing, which can also be done non-standardly, complemented with a row of piercings or play off of what’s already there in an existing piercing, and create a starry sky or a floral composition on the ears.
5. What’s your favourite piercing on your body?
It’s kind of like the first question. I wouldn’t pierce myself if I didn’t like it. The only piercings on me which I treat differently are my helix, each of them relates to a little story. But probably the most significant of my piercings is my tongue. It all started with it, it took me a long time to decide and I did me research. Afterwards the topic of being a piercer myself became interesting to me.
6. What do you like most being a piercer?
Most of all, I like the emotions of a person after a piercing, because many people need a long time to decide where and if they get one, and there is nothing better than sincere smiles and the joy of customers when you help them make their little dream come true.
7. How would you describe your passion for body jewellery in one word?
Love
3. What do you like to do when you’re not adorning bodies?
Now I am more engaged in self-development, reading books and learning a new language for me. Trying to adapt to a new country, so to speak, and deal with stress.
But in general, I like traveling, it is my passion, I can walk in new streets for hours on end: Paris, Vienna, Prague, Barcelona, Zurich and many other cities left me a lot of impressions. I also love painting and modelling. But since my photographer has stayed in Odessa, it is difficult with the last point. I love dancing as I did modern dance for a long time.
4. Who or what influences your view on body jewellery?
The aesthetics and quality of jewellery. Sometimes I look at jewellery selections of different brands and think who they would fit. In fact I have a theory that some models of jewellery are designed for specific people and waiting just for them. You know, like it happens, when you see something, you fall in love and cannot part with it. And if to speak about people, I have my own piercing idols, I think that in due time I chose my idols correctly and I wanted to make piercings exactly.

THE MAGIC OF PIERCINGS: HOW THEY CREATE SELF-LOVE AND TRUE SELF-CONFIDENCE.
1. Who are you?
I'm Inna and I’m 32 years old. I'm from Bulgaria and have been interested in piercings since I was 14. I grew up in a small town where there were never any piercers; at school I always saw the unsuccessful attempts of my classmates to heal self-pierced or even shot piercings, so I always thought: "It must be easier somehow". After some research I found numerous forums on the Internet, where I read a lot about the subject. Quickly after that came my first piercing – a labret in the middle of the lower lip, which was then professionally done in the studio.
2. What is your favourite type of piercing you offer at MAYDUNA?
In the last few years, a trend called “ear curation” has developed and taken over the world. A curated ear project means a composition of piercings, a “constellation”. I love styling these! If we talk about my favourite type of piercing, I love doing conch and nipple piercings.
3. What do you like to do when you’re not working creatively?
Outside of work I'm a very social person, I like to go out with friends, to dance, go bouldering.... I recently moved to Berlin and I am still discovering and learning to love this wonderful city.
7. How would you describe your passion for body jewellery in one word?
Infinite.
4. Who or what influences your view on body jewellery?
I love the history of body piercing and seeing how jewellery has evolved throughout the years. In our modern day society, I see body jewellery as a way to adorn your body, make a statement, they are beautiful accessories, but getting pierced can also extremely help boost someone's confidence and self-esteem. My work at a very famous piercing jewellery brand gave me another view point - I got to learn so much about the process of making jewellery, different stones, metal settings etc. – after 10 years in the piercing industry, I got something new to learn and enjoy, and this made my job more exciting once again.
5. What’s your favourite piercing on your body?
My favourite piercings on myself are definitely my nipple piercings – like many other clients, I got them done after a bad breakup. Seeing them every day and taking care of them, helped me get through the breakup easier and feel good about myself again.
6. What do you like most being a piercer?
What I most love about my job is the happiness in the eyes of my clients when they see their new piercing for the first time – seeing that look makes everything worth it. In these moments I realize how I impact people's lives, make them feel better about themselves, help them love their body
more or simply giving them a safe, clean piercing experience and the opportunity to wear that piece of jewellery they've been so in love with.
